We leave for China tomorrow! Yipee!

As you can see we're down to final packing and Todd is oblivious to what a huge task this is for Lorlyn. Of course, I'm in charge of tickets, video gear, cameras, etc.. Needless to say we're very excited. Make sure you follow our journey, starting Sunday at www.brandenburgs.org/MULAN.htm Posted by Picasa

An invitation to follow our journey for Cai Mulan

I've been working on a website that will be better organized for the updates as we go. Join us at Cai Mulan's China journey site. I'll be making future posts to that site as we go forward. Thanks, Todd

We received our Travel Authority today!

Well, we got the official notice that our travel authority came in today. However, we still don't know when we're going until we receive our consulate appt (which should be in a couple days). Then we can make our travel arrangements and then go..stay tuned...Todd

Subject: Good news! TAs have been received and appts have been requested

I hope to know in a day or two of your confirmed appts at the ACS.

Notes for booking your child's return tickets:

A return international ticket for your child in his/her Chinese Name
is required even if your child is under the age of two. You do not
have to purchase a seat ticket, but a lap ticket is required, and the
cost is a percentage of your adult ticket. The ticket must be in your
child's Chinese Name, because that is the name that will appear on
his/her Chinese passport.

Regarding your child's Chinese Name: In China, the last name is
always listed first, the next one or two names is considered to be
your child's first name. All names on tickets must match the names on
the passports.

I have received several questions from families about skipping the
Beijing part of the travel schedule. That is possible and when the
appts are set, I will note on the schedule you when you need to be in
your child's provincial capital city (Guangdong group-Guangzhou;
Guangxi group-Nanning; and Jiangxi group-Nanchang). Since our tickets
are purchased in China and we will not be able to get the
Guangzhou/capital city part of your ticket to you before you leave the
US, you will need to have your international travel agency book that
flight for you.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I will inform you as
soon as possible of your confirmed travel dates.
Thanks,

Karolyn Tucker

Finally, some good news! Travel Authority may be coming today!

We just got this message last night, so let's hope we get it today!

Finally some good news! Our Beijing office just sent me an email that
the CCAA mailed your TAs on 12/8/05. I just called Karolyn and asked
her when she thought we would receive them here in the St. Louis
office. Karolyn said for sure by Monday and maybe tomorrow (Friday).
I will let you know as soon as they arrive. Ann Tollefson
